Someone

Alguém

A lullaby about beginnings, curiosity, and the quiet miracle of becoming someone.

Perched quietly in the middle of a bush, above a pond and under the distant sun, lies a very small, very round egg. Inside, someone waits — someone no one has ever seen, someone who has not yet been born. In the darkness of the shell, this unknown creature knows nothing of the world outside: not the sun, not the hills, not the clouds, nor the sky. Who could be inside? A beetle? A dragonfly?

Through playful repetitions and a gently expanding sense of scale, this poetic story invites readers to imagine the vast universe that surrounds a life still waiting to begin. From bushes to mountains, from ponds to clouds to the endless sky, the world slowly unfolds — until the tiny being inside the egg finally hatches and discovers it all.

Catarina Gomes (Portugal) is a communication designer and illustrator, with several published children’s books.
