Yara Kono (Portugal) was born in São Paulo, Brazil. She is an illustrator and graphic designer. Yara now lives in Portugal and, since 2004, has been part of the Planeta Tangerina team. In 2010 she received the Portuguese National Illustration Award and in 2016 the Bissaya Barreto Prize. Her work has also received several mentions and selections, including the Compostela Prize, the Nami Concours (South Korea), Ilustrarte, and the Bologna Illustrators Exhibition.
