He was born in Ribatejo, in 1922, and died in Lanzarote, in 2010. The Nobel Prize in Literature was a mechanical locksmith, health and social welfare employee, draughtsman, editor, literary critic, translator and journalist. He was Saramago-boy, Saramago-teenager, Saramago-adult and Man-River.
