She survived the earthquake that hit Lisbon, in 1755. Then she was forced to spend 18 years in a convent, with her mother and sister, as a punishment for the scandal surrounding Távora. Despite all the tragedies, Leonor became an influent patroness of the arts, attending national and international artistic circles.
