Mountaining

S'emmontagner

Coquelicot Vitale & Agathe Meunier

Cambourakis | April 2026 | 48 pages | 24 x 33 cm | hardcover

A sensory journey through mountains, landscapes, and emotions.

Mountaining means climbing like an ibex, listening to the sound of ice melting as summer approaches, snacking on myrtles along the way, or lying in the grass. But it also means choosing to leave, risking getting lost, and sometimes feeling very small.

In twenty colourful panels, Coquelicot Vitale and Agathe Meunier invite us to contemplate the mountains. Each page begins with a verb in the infinitive (breathing, dreaming, yomping), immersing readers in a world of vivid sensations.

Mountaining is the first of a series, which will be followed in 2027 by another picture book by Coquelicot and Agathe, this time around the wonders of the seaside.

Agathe Meunier (France) is an illustrator and risograph printer from Strasbourg. She draws inspiration from the landscapes around her and from the Vanoise mountains, where she periodically helps care for a mountain refuge.
